Notes/Considerations:
- Length: 18 - 20km
- Time: 4 to 5 hrs
- Terrain: Bush tracks, stairs, beach sand, steep & uneven terrain, single file sections, road crossings / sections
- Pace: Brisk walk. Approximately 8-10 km/hr.
- Fitness Level: A moderate level of fitness is required to complete this trek.
- Experience: You do not need to have previous hiking experience.
- Parking: Participants advised to park vehicles on either Watt Street, Newcastle, or in Bolton Street Secure Carpark which are in close proximity to Trek Registration outside Nihon University (next door to Newcastle Police Station), Church Street Newcastle at 10:45pm.
- ANZAC Day Dawn Service at Nobby's Beach usually attracts crowds in excess of 50,000 people. Parking within immediate proximity is not possible due to road closures and traffic management. - Expectations: This will be difficult! Moving on feet for approximately 4-5 hours at a time when you're normally asleep. We move with purpose. Some portions of the track are only lit by your head torch. It may be cold. Shops will not be open along the way. There are limited toilet / bathroom opportunities, however we will stop 2-3 times for toilet breaks and to refuel our bodies. This will be a challenging, but enjoyable and achievable experience.
- Participants are also strongly advised to bring additional dry / warm layers to put on or change into for the Dawn Service.
- BUS DEPARTS 11:15PM SHARP TO TRANSPORT PARTICIPANTS TO REDHEAD BEACH SLSC - TREK START POINT.
